The Winter Court

The Winter Court keeps the Freehold, its activities, and its members a secret from the Mundane world. To maintain this secret the Winter court keeps a sharp eye out and acts as secret police within the Freehold, making sure no one endangers the community. Alongside this it also manages and watches over the Fetches within the town. The Winter Court is a small but very powerful court in Naukati, using secrets, blackmail and other dark means to maintain the Freehold's safety, especially from threats they perceive from within. Archer of the March Archers of the March are tasked with seeking out new Winter Cottages, Freehold Hollows or newly formed Hedge gates. Alongside this they watch the Hedge border and the edge of the Forest, keeping eyes out as first response alert to threats from the Keepers of the Forest. Available titles: Unlimited Archer of the Watch The Archers of the Watch are assigned to keep tabs on designated Winter Cottages and Freehold Hollows. Alongside this duty they act as the eyes and ears of the Freehold within the Mundane community of the town, making sure to report if any one is talking about the Freehold activities, its members, or other supernatural occurrences Available titles: Unlimited DJ Otzal An anonymous member of the Winter Court who uses the local radio channel to broadcast news to the Freehold, especially in times of emergency. Their voice is altered by magick as not to be recognizable. Available titles: 1 Blade of Frozen Silence As close as the Winter Court comes to a champion, the blade is a silent killer, used as an assassin to remove threats that winter court cannot abide both within and without the Freehold. Secrecy, subtlety and tact are the trademarks of a good Blade, though ironically the blade is a known title within the Freehold. However, it is a mark of pride for a Blade never to leave evidence of their handiwork... only whispers and rumors. Available titles:1 Lord of the Inhospitable Chamber This title belongs to a courtier who interrogates and imprisons people on the Silent Arrow’s behalf. The “inhospitable chamber” is an allegory; the ideal Lord knows how to isolate his prey and without locks and bars. Friends keep their distance, enemies chase him to places where he’s a disconnected stranger — and all the while, the Lord monitors him, even appearing in disguise to extract secrets. The Lord of Inhospitable Chamber also acts as a face of the Winter Court policies of secrecy and often pays visits to members who have been careless in their actions, a firm reminder to watch themselves. Available titles:1 Sun Banisher Sun Banisher destroys evidence. They burn notes, wipe hard drives, vacuum stray hairs and wreck DNA evidence (though this last is tricky business, to say the least). The Sun Banisher’s title is usually one of the best-known in the Freehold, as the Court allows them to hire out their services. Alongside these duties the Sun Banisher works as a sort of captain for the Winter Secret police, collecting and managing the passing of information. Available titles:1 |
